Carnival Mary

The Royal Curtsy

Picture 4 of 6

The curtsy to the King and Queen of Mecca. These were the costumes representing the legend of Trilby and Svengali. The dress weighs about 40 pounds and the headdress is made like a helmet. From this helmet that sits on the head, the ostrich feathers, rhinestones, crystals, sequins and a variety of other fabrics and materials come together to make the costume complete. The Duke's headdress is over 4' wide and 2' tall and as heavy and unwieldy as it looks, it is not at all.
