Future Mardi Gras Dates
The date for Mardi Gras changes every single year. The key element is Ash Wednesday. In New Orleans, we kick off the celebration officially on January 6th. That is when the first King Cakes are socially available. Ash Wednesday is always 40 days before Easter making Mardi Gras the day before Ash Wednesday. Don't count Sundays in this equation. Easter can be on any Sunday from March 23rd to April 25th with the exact date to coincide with the first Sunday after the full moon following a Spring Equinox. Make your plans now to come to New Orleans!
